About Rommel Tortal

Tuhon Rommel Tortal grew up on the island of Negros in the Philippines. He began training with his uncle, Grand Tuhon Leo Gaje, at a young age in the family art of Pekiti Tirsia Kali.



 Tuhon "Mel" decided to make training and teaching PTK and other survival arts his life's work. He has experience teaching military close quarters combat, private security, police, and civilian martial arts groups for over 30 years.

He now has students of all backgrounds in over 120 countries world-wide.

Military Training

Training for military  is focused on combat and survival.



The military training curriculum includes environmental survival tactics, close quarter handgun countermeasures and firearm retention,  edge weapon applications, close quarter battle, sentry removal tactics, human barricading tactics,  etc. 

Private Security and Police

Training for law enforcement and private security centers around safety and control tactics.


Tuhon Mel provides training around tactical handcuffing and speed cuffing, extreme close quarter tactical shooting, and weapon retention. Weapon retention covers handguns, rifles, tactical flashlight, knife, and baton.

Civilian

Civilian training has the opportunity to learn the traditional art of Pekiti Tirsia Kali (PTK) and the wide range of weapons and platforms developed in the fighting system of the Tortal clan over the centuries.


Some weapons platforms may be traditional such as double baston, solo baston, knife, and sword, or they may be modern with the use of improvised weapons, flashlights, and handguns.
